Avalanche Sign Breakout Forward

 

The Avalanche have signed forward Artturi Lehkonen to a five-year extension worth $4.5 million annually.

Lehkonen played 74 games this past season, split between the Canadiens and the Avalanche, scoring 19 goals and 19 assists for 38 total points. 

The former highly touted prospect finally broke out last season, scoring career highs in goals and points. The $4.5 million per year could turn out to be quite the discount for the Avalanche if Lehkonen keeps improving his play. 

The twenty-seven year old is a hard forechecking middle-six winger with great defensive awareness and the ability to improve fellow linemates' play. Lehknonen should see increased playing time this upcoming season.
