New York Rangers Place 2 Players on Waivers

The New York Rangers have made two cuts from their training camp roster, as Turner Elson and C.J. Smith have both been placed on waivers.

Elson was signed by the Rangers during the offseason. The 30-year-old played in two games last season with the Detroit Red Wings, where he failed to record a point and sported a minus-1 rating. It was his first NHL action since the 2015-16 campaign. He primarily played for the Grand Rapids Griffins, however, where he set new AHL career-highs with 21 goals, 24 assists, and 45 points.

Smith, on the other hand, played in one game for the Carolina Hurricanes last season. With the Chicago Wolves, he scored 24 goals and recorded 58 points in 60 games. If he clears waivers, he will be a very solid player for the Hartford Wolf Pack to have, as it's clear that he can produce quite well at the AHL level.
