Washington Capitals Forward Clears Waivers

Sonny Milano is officially heading to the Hershey Bears, as the recent Washington Capitals signing has cleared waivers.

Milano just inked a one-year, $750,000 contract with the Capitals earlier this week and immediately was placed on waivers. The Capitals' plan was to have the 26-year-old start the season in the AHL, and now he can officially go there due to clearing waivers. Yet, this seems more than likely to be a short-term plan, as Milano is a prime call-up candidate given the season he just had with the Anaheim Ducks.

In 66 games last year, he had 14 goals to go along with a career-high 34 points. This kind of production is quite solid, and if he can replicate it in DC, he should fit well in their middle six. Yet, for now, his primary goal will be to impress with the Bears to earn himself a call-up.
