NHL Rumors: Florida Panthers Forward Becoming Trade Candidate

Before the Florida Panthers can activate Anthony Duclair off of injured reserve, they will need to make a trade to become cap compliant. Duclair, Sam Bennett, and Radko Gudas have all emerged as potential trade candidates because of this, but NHL insider Frank Seravalli also noted Sam Reinhart could be a player moved as well while speaking with Mike McKenna.

Reinhart carries a hefty $6.5 million cap hit until the end of the 2023-24 season, so the Panthers would surely gain some much-needed cap space by moving him. The 27-year-old has also had a fairly rough start to the season for his standards, as he has six goals, 13 points, and a minus-6 rating in 22 games. Those numbers are not necessarily bad, but his pace of production is significantly lower than last season (82 points in 78 games).

Due to his slow start, Reinhart's value isn't as high as it would have been this offseason, but Florida could still get a decent return for him given his success last season. We will have to wait and see if the Panthers decide to make him their cap casualty from here.
