NHL Rumors: Ottawa Senators to Shop Defenseman

It has been a very rough start to the 2022-23 season for the Ottawa Senators. Even with their current two-game winning streak, they still have an underwhelming 8-12-1 record and are last in the Atlantic Division. As a result, they are likely to be sellers at the deadline, and their top rental candidate in this scenario is Artem Zub.

If the Senators are unable to finalize an extension with Zub before the deadline, it seems far more likely than not that Ottawa will take advantage of his high trade value. The 27-year-old is exactly the kind of shutdown defenseman that contenders always want to have. He has proven that he can play top-four minutes and chip in offensively, but his superb defensive play and immense physicality are what will lead to plenty of interest.

In 12 games this season, Zub has two goals, two assists, and 47 hits. We will have to wait and see what happens with Zub as we get closer to the deadline.
