NHL Rumors: Colorado Avalanche Linked to Panthers Center

The Colorado Avalanche are having an underwhelming season so far this campaign, but the primary reason for this is their serious injury trouble. Once they get healthy, they should once again look like legitimate contenders, so there’s not too much to worry about. Yet, even with this being the case, the Avalanche would still be wise to add a second-line center to their group before the trade deadline passes. They have not found a legitimate replacement since losing Nazem Kadri to the Calgary Flames, but landing Florida Panthers center Sam Bennett could help change that.

There have been rumors buzzing that the Panthers will be looking to trade either Bennett or Sam Reinhart to help clear out some space before the deadline. Furthermore, Florida has had a ton of struggles this season and is currently looking like a non-playoff team because of it. As a result, the Avalanche should consider making a significant push for Bennett from here.

Bennett offers very good offense while playing at his best, but he also plays a very reliable defensive game and provides a lot of physicality in the process. Overall, he’s built for the playoffs, so don’t be surprised to see the reigning Stanley Cup champions end up making him one of their primary training targets once we get closer to the deadline.
