NHL Rumors: Detroit Red Wings to Shop Forward

At this point in the season, the Detroit Red Wings have rapidly fallen in the NHL standings, and they will likely be sellers at the trade deadline because of it. One player who we will likely see shopped because of this is Pius Suter.

The 2022–23 season has not treated Suter very well, as he has just five goals and 11 points in 37 games. This production is low for his standards, as he recorded 36 points in 82 games just last season, and had a 27-point campaign in 55 games with the Chicago Blackhawks as a rookie the year before. When utilized in the right role, Suter has the ability to be a very solid secondary scorer, so there could be interest in services at the deadline.

The Red Wings will likely need to retain half of Suter’s $3.25 million cap hit for a deal to occur, but that certainly is possible when noting that he is in the final year of his deal. Alas, let’s see if the versatile forward ends up being moved from here. He could be a decent under-the-radar addition if he finds his previous form.
