NHL Rumors: Edmonton Oilers Talking Blockbuster Trade With Sharks

The Edmonton Oilers are looking to make at least one big splash at the trade deadline, as they are aiming to become legitimate contenders. They have been linked to several big-name players because of it, but a new one is now reportedly on their radar. According to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, the Oilers have had legitimate conversations with the San Jose Sharks about star defenseman Erik Karlsson.

San Jose have of course made Karlsson available for trade, and interest in his services is skyrocketing because of his ridiculously impressive season this year. After a few down years, Karlsson is playing the best hockey of his marvelous career, as he has 14 goals and 58 points in just 45 games. Needless to say, the rebuilding Sharks are aiming to take advantage of his heightened value because of it.

The Sharks would need to retain a good portion of his salary in a move with the Oilers, but we will have to wait and see if they do just that. If the Oilers land him, their offense would be even more ridiculous.
