NHL Rumors: Flyers & Hurricanes Linked to Possible Trade

Although Philadelphia Flyers forward Kevin Hayes was named an All-Star for this season, he is reportedly being shopped. It ultimately makes sense, however, as Hayes' trade value is at its highest due to his strong season, and head coach John Tortorella memorably scratched him. Teams are already being linked to the big center because of it, and according to The Fourth Period, the Carolina Hurricanes are one of them.

It is not surprising to hear that the Hurricanes are interested in Hayes, as they have yet to find a legitimate replacement for Vincent Trocheck at the second-line center position. Yet, if acquired, Hayes would immediately be a great fit for that role, as he is a solid point producer. Furthermore, playing with better talent around him could allow him to hit higher levels of production as well.

For a Hayes trade to occur, Philadelphia would need to retain some salary. It will be intriguing to see if these two Metropolitan Division rivals end up striking a deal centering around Hayes from here.
