Vancouver Canucks: 3 Trades to Consider Ahead of 2023 Deadline

The Vancouver Canucks are a mess, and there's no other way to put it. From signing J.T Miller to a lengthy contract extension, to then tell captain Bo Horvat there's no money left for him. Or the fact they were going to healthy scratch Brock Boeser on a Cancer Awareness Game, to then give his agent permission to seek a trade, it's been a circus surrounding the Canucks for months. Here's three trades their executive team needs to consider:

Bo Horvat to the Colorado Avalanche

The Avs are the heavy favorite for Bo Horvat's services as they are in the market for adding a center and would be a team Horvat would likely re-sign with at season's end. The Canucks need to take less in this deal and go with quality over quantity, and ensure either Bowen Byram or Samuel Girard is the focal point. If they want Alex Newhook, the Avs are going to hang up the phone.

Brock Boeser to the New Jersey Devils

The Devils are looking for a top-six winger who can score and Boeser has shown he's capable of hitting 30-goals. He's also signed to some term and the Devils should consider this move with the present and the future in mind. Boeser is still only 25 and could take his game to new heights in Jersey. The Devils have a number of prospects they could dangle who are getting very close to being ready for NHL action. Vancouver would take the cap space over anything else at this point.

J.T Miller to the New York Rangers

If the Canucks truly want to re-tool, they need to re-nag on the contract extension and move Miller before his new deal kicks in. The Rangers know him well and adding him to a Gerard Gallant coached team could do wonders. The Rangers have a number of talented young forwards who could interest in Canucks and it would allow them to save some serious $$$ moving forward. Miller isn't loved by all of his teammates, and this move could keep Horvat in town a lot longer.
