NHL Rumors: Hurricanes & Blackhawks Emerging as Trade Candidates

The Chicago Blackhawks are ready to be major sellers at the trade deadline, as they of course are going through a full-on rebuild. Captain Jonathan Toews is one of their biggest rental candidates, and interest in his services is starting to skyrocket. With the Carolina Hurricanes looking to add a center to their group, there are rumblings that they are one of the clubs currently making a push for the veteran.

It is not surprising to hear that the Hurricanes are looking to add a center like Toews. Although they are a very deep team, it is clear that they could use a boost at this position, as they of course lost Vincent Trocheck this past offseason and failed to find a second-line center replacement for him. Toews, while playing at his best, could be a potential fix for this problem.

Toews would give the Hurricanes a three-time Stanley Cup winner as they aim to win their first one since 2006. It will be intriguing to see if Carolina and Chicago end up striking a major deal centering around the future Hall of Famer from here.
