NHL Rumors: NY Rangers Linked to Philadelphia Flyers Forward

In a recent piece for Daily Faceoff, Frank Seravalli wrote that the New York Rangers' primary objective at the trade deadline should be to add a top-six winger. Following that, he discussed a few potential trade targets that the Blueshirts should consider, and Philadelphia Flyers winger James van Riemsdyk was one of them.

JVR is one of the top rental candidates heading into the trade deadline, as he is an effective goal scorer that comes with size. In 22 games this season, the 33-year-old winger has recorded a solid 17 points in 22 games of action. Overall, it is clear that the veteran winger can still produce well in the right role, but if he were to join a much stronger Rangers club, his production could improve even more.

The Rangers are limited in cap space, so the Flyers would surely need to retain a significant portion of JVR's cap hit. Yet, when noting that he is a pending UFA, it certainly seems likely that Philadelphia would be willing to. Alas, let's see if the Rangers and Flyers end up striking a deal from here.
