NHL Rumors: Pittsburgh Penguins Looking to Move Salary

The Pittsburgh Penguins are once again looking like a team who should be big buyers in theory at the trade deadline. Yet, due to their limited cap space, they are not going to be able to make many moves unless they clear out some salary. According to Frank Seravalli, this needs to be Pittsburgh’s primary objective, as it will open the door for them to make a notable move elsewhere.

Seravalli noted that the Penguins could look to trade players like Kasperi Kapanen, Jason Zucker, and Marcus Petersson. However, with each of these players making more money than they are worth, it is not going to be easy for them to find trading partners for them. As a result, another player who has been entering the rumor mill as of late is Teddy Blueger. Now that’s a player who we certainly could see garner a ton of interest, as he is a solid bottom-six forward, carries an affordable cap hit and is an excellent penalty killer.

We will have to wait and see if Pittsburgh ends up clearing out some salary before the deadline. If so, this will certainly allow them to make a bigger move elsewhere.
