Arizona Coyotes Rumors: Chychrun Linked to Surprising Team

Jakob Chychrun is going to be traded before the 2023 NHL Trade Deadline. The Coyotes have been keeping him out of the lineup due to trade-related reasons, and several teams have been expressing interest in him because of this. Yet, it appears that a new team has entered the picture, as The Fourth Period is reporting that the Columbus Blue Jackets are linked to him.

This may be surprising to many, as the Blue Jackets are currently one of the worst teams in the NHL. However, at the same time, it also makes sense that Chychrun is a player that they want to add, as he carries a $4.6 million cap hit until the end of the 2024-25 season. Therefore, he would be far more than just a rental for the Blue Jackets if acquired. With that, he could be the piece they need to get things back together next season.

The Blue Jackets have the assets to acquire Chychrun, as their prospect pool is quite strong. With Vladislav Gavrikov also set to be traded, Chychrun would be a great replacement for him on the left side.

In 36 games this season, Chychrun has seven goals, 28 points, and a plus-8 rating.
