St. Louis Blues Rumors: Torey Krug Becoming Trade Target for Contender

The Edmonton Oilers have made it known that their primary objective at the 2023 NHL Trade Deadline is to add a puck-moving defenseman. Erik Karlsson is the biggest name being linked to them because of this, but according to The Fourth Period, St. Louis Blues defenseman Torey Krug is also on their radar.

This is a particularly intriguing development, but it also does make sense when noting what the Oilers' objective is at the deadline. Krug is a solid offensive defenseman who works beautifully on the power play due to his puck-moving and passing abilities. With that, while playing with superstars like Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, his production would likely go up. Thus, he could be a major addition to their group as they gear up for the postseason.

Krug is having another solid season this year, as he has five goals and 22 points in 39 games played. Due to this, it makes sense that the Oilers are looking at him as a potential trade target. However, he also has a full no-trade clause, so he has complete control over whether or not he will be moved. However, with the Blues trending in the wrong direction, perhaps he would be open to joining the Oilers. We will now need to wait and see if their interest in him leads to anything happening from here.
