NHL Rumors: Dallas Stars & Canucks Emerging as Trade Partners

The Dallas Stars are having a very strong 2022-23 season, and they are expected to be buyers at the 2023 Trade Deadline because of it. Although it is clear that they are hoping to add another top-six forward to their group before March 3, there are also rumblings that they want to improve their defensive depth, too. As a result, they are now reportedly one of the many teams looking to acquire Vancouver Canucks defenseman Luke Schenn.

Schenn is truly a hot commodity on the trade market right now, and it is very easy to understand why. The 33-year-old is having a strong season, as he has three goals, 18 points, and a plus-8 rating in 50 games. With that, he has a league-leading 241 hits, so he has made a major impact physically. With all of this, he is exactly the kind of defenseman that all playoff teams want to snag.

Schenn also carries a very affordable $850,000 cap hit, so the Stars would be able to bring him in with ease. It will be intriguing to see if the Stars can land Schenn from here, but on paper, it is apparent that there is a real match here.
