NHL Rumors: Flyers Aiming to Make Big Splash In Free Agency

In a recent piece for The Fourth Period, Anthony Di Marco reported that he has heard that the Philadelphia Flyers could be big spenders this offseason and go after Detroit Red Wings star center Dylan Larkin if he hits the free-agent market because of it.

At the time of this writing, it has been reported that negotiations between the Red Wings and Larkin have not led to much progress and that they are not close on a new deal. If things do not improve on this front by the offseason and Larkin ends up becoming a free agent, it appears that the Flyers will do what they can to try to land him.

The Flyers have not been afraid to spend money over the last few years, but it has not resulted in them having much success at all in the process. Perhaps signing a player like Larkin this summer could change that, but we will need to wait and see if the Red Wings can keep their star around before this has any chance of occurring.
