Rangers & Canucks Complete a Trade

The New York Rangers have finally found a suitor for their young forward Vitali Kravtsov, the team announced today that they are trading him to the Vancouver Canucks. The Canucks are sending William Lockwood and a 2026 7th-round pick back to the Rangers.

Kravtsov has struggled to find his footing in the NHL and now he will get a chance to redeem himself with the Canucks. There were some reports that he was going to head overseas back to the KHL if things didn't change for him. Now with the trade, the hope is that he will find his game with Vancouver and become the player that he once was scouted as.

William Lockwood was a 3rd round pick in the 2016 NHL draft by the Canucks and has spent the entirety of his professional hockey career in the AHL. Now with the trade, he will most likely report to the Rangers' AHL affiliate, the Hartford Wolfpack. However, there could be an opportunity to make the bottom six in the Rangers' organization, in the coming seasons.

The Rangers are not done making moves ahead of the March 3, NHL trade deadline. Numerous sources are saying that they are gearing up to acquire Patrick Kane from the Chicago Blackhawks. This trade to move Kravtsov off their salary cap could be an indication that they are close to completing a deal for Kane.
