Boston Bruins Defenseman Out for Rest of Regular Season

The Boston Bruins have been hit by the injury bug again, as defenseman Derek Forbort has been ruled out for the remainder of the regular season due to a lower-body injury.

Head coach Jim Montgomery noted that Forbort's injury does not require surgery. As a result of this, there is at least a chance that we will see the shutdown defenseman return at some point during the postseason.

Ultimately, this injury does not impact the Bruins' regular season that significantly, as they have already clinched a playoff spot and are well on their way to winning the Presidents' Trophy. However, they will be hoping that the 6-foot-4 left-shot defenseman will be ready to go for the playoffs, as he is a notable part of their blueline.

Forbort has been one of the Bruins' top shutdown defensemen this season, as he has been a major contributor to their penalty kill. In 54 games on the year, he has a career-high five goals to go along with 12 points, a plus-12 rating, and 106 hits.
