Ottawa Senators Rumors: 3 Offseason Trade Candidates

Welcome to NHL Trade Rumors' Offseason Trade Candidates series. During it, we will be looking at three players from each team who could be moved during the summer.

In this piece, we will be focusing on the Ottawa Senators.

Alex DeBrincat: If Alex DeBrincat does not express interest in signing a long-term extension with the Senators this offseason, there is a distinct possibility that Ottawa will listen to offers for him. Keep in mind, he is only a year away from being eligible for unrestricted free agency, and the Senators cannot afford to lose a player of his skill level for nothing in 2024.

Mathieu Joseph: After recording 12 points in his first 11 games as a Senator in 2021-22, Mathieu Joseph secured himself a four-year, $11.8 million contract. Yet, he has struggled this season with Ottawa, as he has just three goals and 14 assists in 47 games. Therefore, don't be surprised if the Senators shop him this summer.

Erik Brannstrom: Erik Brannstrom is another player to pay attention to in the rumor mill this offseason. His name has come up in trade talks in the past, and the Senators could look to move him after acquiring Jakob Chychrun from the Arizona Coyotes. In 64 games this season, the 2017 first-round pick has two goals and 11 helpers.
