Pittsburgh Penguins Rumors: 3 Offseason Trade Candidates

Welcome to NHL Trade Rumors' Offseason Trade Candidates series. During it, we will be looking at three players from each team who could be moved during the summer.

In this latest episode, we will be taking a look at the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Jeff Petry: Leading up to the 2023 NHL Trade Deadline, there was speculation that Jeff Petry would be moved. Although that did not occur, it is likely that the Penguins will listen to offers for the 35-year-old. Pittsburgh could use some cap space, and moving out Petry's $6.25 million cap hit would be a great way to make that happen.

Marcus Pettersson: Similar to Petry, Marcus Pettersson has been in the rumor mill. When noting that he is having a career year for the Penguins, they could look to move him and his expensive cap hit while his trade value is increased.

Jeff Carter: After posting a 45-point campaign in 76 games last season, Jeff Carter has just 24 points in 66 games this season. At 38 years old, it isn't surprising that his offensive production is taking a notable dip, and the Penguins could look to move him and his $3.125 million cap hit until the end of the next season. The major problem, however, is that he would need to accept any trade, as he carries a full no-movement clause.
