Chicago Blackhawks Rumors: Defenseman Becoming Trade Candidate

The Chicago Blackhawks have traded away the majority of their top players, and that is expected to continue over to this offseason. As a result, one defenseman who is emerging as an offseason trade candidate is Connor Murphy.

Murphy has been in the rumor mill since the Blackhawks started their rebuild, but a move centering around him has not come to fruition. However, when noting that Murphy is a 6-foot-4, right-shot defenseman who plays top-four minutes, there is no question that several teams would love to acquire him. As a result, we should expect the Blackhawks to test his market this summer.

Murphy appeared in 80 games this season for the Blackhawks, where he had seven goals, 13 points, and 165 hits. Teams looking to add a solid shutdown defenseman to their group will surely be contacting Blackhawks GM Kyle Davidson about Murphy from here. Some specific clubs to pay attention to in the sweepstakes include the Buffalo Sabres, Ottawa Senators, Washington Capitals, and Seattle Kraken.
