NHL Rumors: 3 Teams Expected to Target Michael Bunting This Offseason

Michael Bunting is one of the top pending UFAs set to hit the open market this summer. The 27-year-old is having another solid season with the Toronto Maple Leafs, as he has 23 goals, 49 points, and a plus-22 rating. As a result, he will garner plenty of interest this offseason, so let's discuss three teams who are expected to target him.

Toronto Maple Leafs: The Leafs will work hard to re-sign Bunting this offseason if they can make it work financially. However, when noting that Bunting has emerged as a strong top-six option for them, he will understandably be looking for a notable raise this offseason. We will need to wait and see if they can get something done.

Dallas Stars: The Dallas Stars will look to add a top-six left winger to their group this offseason. They have been linked to Tyler Bertuzzi because of this, but don't be surprised if Bunting is on their radar as well. He would strengthen their top six significantly and would provide them with a long-term option due to his age.

Washington Capitals: After a disappointing 2022-23 season, the Washington Capitals are expected to be busy this summer. With Alex Ovechkin still on the team, they will aim to be competitive again, so look for them to be active in the Bunting sweepstakes. They need a top-six forward when looking at their current group.
