Blackhawks Rumors: Tyler Johnson Named 2023-24 Trade Candidate

A recent article from The Athletic had writers pick one player from each team who could be traded during the 2023-24 season. For the Chicago Blackhawks, Scott Powers wrote that Tyler Johnson could be a player who generates interest at the trade deadline if he has a solid season.

Johnson is coming off of a bounce-back season of sorts. Appearing in 56 games last season, the veteran forward posted 12 goals to go along with 32 points. Overall, that is solid production from a middle-six forward, and there certainly could be a playoff team out there willing to take a chance on him. This is especially so if the Blackhawks retain half of his salary, which Powers addresses in his section.

If Johnson can continue to produce well this upcoming season, he would make sense for a team to bring in for their third line and second power-play unit.

We will need to wait and see if the Blackhawks end up moving the 33-year-old during the 2023-24 season from here.
