Blue Jackets Rumors: Almost Anybody Available For Trade

The Columbus Blue Jackets' season has not gone the way they had hoped or some had envisioned after multiple big additions and a talented young lineup. They sit last in the Eastern Conference in points percentage and fourth last in the league in the same category. With a record of 10-17-5, questionable coaching decisions, and injuries, it's very unlikely they will turn things around.

There have been many rumors surrounding the team this season, and the most recent report came from Bruce Garrioch where he said the Blue Jackets are willing to discuss a trade on just about anybody. This really opens up the possibility for some teams because something really does need to change in Columbus for this team to climb out of the depth of the league soon.

I would list Adam Fantilli, David Jiricek, and Zach Werenski as untouchables, while everybody else may be on the table for the right deal. Whether it be underperforming players on bigger deals or older players who will become free agents in the next year or two, the Blue Jackets need to not rush the rebuild. The feeling is that they tried to do just that and it has hurt them. By bringing in Johnny Gaudreau a couple years ahead of schedule and loading up their defense, it has shot the confidence of certain players. Personally, I would like to see a team built around the young players that were drafted high in recent years rather than hoping Guadreau and company can pull the team out of the rebuild. It's going to be tough sledding for a while longer in Columbus by the look of it.
