Canadiens Rumors: David Savard Linked To Metropolitan Division Team

According to reports from Rob Ellis of NHL Trade Rumor.com, there's a growing buzz surrounding the New Jersey Devils' interest in Montreal Canadiens defenseman David Savard.

With Dougie Hamilton sidelined on Long-Term Injured Reserve (LTIR), the Devils find themselves with extra financial flexibility to address their defensive needs mid-season.

Savard's name has emerged as a prime candidate to bolster the Devils' blue line in the absence of Hamilton.

Savard's reputation for defensive prowess and his wealth of experience make him an attractive target for the Devils as they look to shore up their defense and maintain their competitive edge.

As the trade deadline draws near, it will be interesting to see if the Devils' management make a move for Savard or explore alternative options to fortify their roster for a postseason push.

Through nine games this season, the 33-year-old has scored a goal and three total points.

Over his three-year stint with Montreal, Savard has amassed seven goals, 40 total points, and a -36 plus/minus rating across 133 games played. Photo Credit:  Eric Bolte-USA TODAY Sports
