Update On Maple Leafs Mark Giordano's Return From Injury

The Toronto Maple Leafs' already struggling defensive lineup faced a notable challenge with the recent injury of veteran defenseman Mark Giordano.

Giordano suffered a broken finger, which has sidelined him since November 28.

Giordano's absence is a blow to the Leafs' defense. Known for his solid play and experience, the 40-year-old blueliner's injury leaves a gap in the team's back end.

Before his injury, Giordano contributed one goal and four assists over 20 games, along with a -1 plus/minus rating and 27 penalty minutes.

As of now, the recovery timeline for Giordano is estimated at 4 to 6 weeks.

It has now been reported that the 40-year-old won't play before the NHL's Christmas break, and is expected to be day-to-day coming out of the break.

Since joining the Leafs, Giordano has amassed seven goals and 41 points across 118 games, along with a +38 plus/minus rating. Photo Credit: Per Haljestam-USA TODAY Sports
