Blackhawks Rumors: 3 Teams to Watch in Tyler Johnson Sweepstakes

Tyler Johnson is expected to be traded before the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline passes. This is entirely understandable, as Johnson is a pending unrestricted free agent (UFA) on a rebuilding Chicago Blackhawks squad. As a result, his name is already going around the rumor mill, and here are three teams that we should watch in the sweepstakes from here.

Boston Bruins: The Boston Bruins should be paid attention to when it comes to Johnson. They need more help in their top nine, especially down the middle, and Johnson would have the potential to give them just that. At a minimum, he would give them a bit more secondary scoring in their bottom six and could be a decent addition to their second power play unit in the process.

Washington Capitals: The Washington Capitals have been looking to improve down the middle this season. While Johnson may not be the biggest name out there, he would give them some help in their top nine. With that, he would also give them another experienced forward, which certainly is never a bad thing when it comes to the postseason.

Colorado Avalanche: The Colorado Avalanche are another team who would benefit from adding to their center depth. That is arguably their weakest position right now, so they are expected to add at least one before the deadline passes. Johnson could be a nice addition to their third line, whether he plays down the middle or moves to the right wing.
