NHL Rumors: Capitals & Senators Becoming Possible Trade Partners

The Washington Capitals are one of the many teams in the Eastern Conference fighting in the very tight playoff race. Because of this, they are expected to be active at the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline, likely as buyers. The Ottawa Senators, on the other hand, are preparing to be sellers, as they are once again among the worst teams in the league.

With the Caps being buyers and the Sens being sellers, they are starting to stand out as possible trade partners. The Capitals have been eyeing top-six forwards and top-pairing defensemen, and the Sens have just those in Vladimir Tarasenko and Jakob Chychrun.

Tarasenko has an expiring contract, and the Senators are expected to ask him to waive his no-trade clause for the deadline. Meanwhile, Chychrun's name has been picking up a lot of steam in the rumor mill over these last few days, as the club is reportedly hearing offers for him. The Capitals are one of the clubs who have been linked to him, as reported by The Fourth Period.

If the Capitals want to make a real push this season, they are going to need to make some changes to their group. Bringing in a high-impact player like Chychrun or Tarasenko would be very beneficial for them, and we will need to see if they can land either one of them from here.
