Blues Rumors: 3 Contract Extension Candidates

The 2024 NHL Trade Deadline saw several teams make moves, and the league looks far different now because of it. However, now that the deadline has passed, we won’t see any more trades until after the season. Although this is the case, we still could see teams sign players to contract extensions. As a result, we here at NHLTR will be going over three contract extension candidates from each team.

In this latest edition of the series, let's take a look at the St. Louis Blues.

Kasperi Kapanen: Kasperi Kapanen is a player whom the Blues could look to extend beyond this season. The skilled winger has had a bit of a tough season, but he has been heating up a bit as of late. If he can end the season on a high note, the chances of him earning a short-term deal to stay with the Blues are there.

Marco Scandella: Marco Scandella is another extension candidate from the Blues. While he is not dominating the league offensively, his steady defensive play has made him a solid part of the club's blue line this season. At a much cheaper cap hit, the Blues would likely be open to keeping him around.

Scott Perunovich: Scott Perunovich has been having a pretty solid first full season with the Blues, as he has 14 assists in 40 games thus far. The young defenseman has the tools to become an impactful offensive defenseman, so don't be surprised if he gets a new deal soon.
