Maple Leafs Rumors: 3 Contract Extension Candidates

The 2024 NHL Trade Deadline saw several teams make moves, and the league looks far different now because of it. However, now that the deadline has passed, we won’t see any more trades until after the season. Although this is the case, we still could see teams sign players to contract extensions. As a result, we here at NHLTR will be going over three contract extension candidates from each team.

In this latest edition of the series, we will focus on the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Tyler Bertuzzi: Tyler Bertuzzi's start with the Maple Leafs may have been a bit underwhelming, but his play has picked up as the campaign has rolled on. He has provided offense to go along with some grit and is starting to fit into their lineup well. Thus, it would not be too surprising if he earned a new contract before the season is over.

Max Domi: Max Domi is another extension candidate from the Maple Leafs. The 29-year-old has fit in well with the Maple Leafs and has given them some solid production in their middle six (35 points in 65 games). Thus, an extension is quite possible.

Connor Dewar: The Maple Leafs brought in Connor Dewar at the deadline. The pending RFA has the potential to be a big addition to their bottom six because of his physical style of play and solid penalty-killing. Thus, it would not be surprising if the Leafs look to get him signed to his next contract soon.
