Bruins Rumors: 3 Contract Extension Candidates

The 2024 NHL Trade Deadline saw several teams make moves, and the league looks far different now because of it. However, now that the deadline has passed, we won’t see any more trades until after the season. Although this is the case, we still could see teams sign players to contract extensions. As a result, we here at NHLTR will be going over three contract extension candidates from each team.

In this latest edition of the series, we will be looking at the Boston Bruins.

Jeremy Swayman: The Bruins have a star goalie in Jeremy Swayman. He is expected to be their long-term starter for several years to come, and there have been several reports that they are working on a new deal for him. This one is a no-brainer for Boston.

Jake DeBrusk: Jake DeBrusk is the Bruins' top pending UFA, and they have a big decision to make with him. The top-six winger has struggled with consistency this campaign but has also had moments where he has been dominant. He works well in their lineup and has for several seasons, but will that be enough for him to stay in Boston?

Matt Grzelcyk: Matt Grzelcyk is another notable pending UFA on the Bruins' roster. He has been Charlie McAvoy's partner on the top pairing for quite some time. The pair have great chemistry, so there is a shot that he gets a new deal. However, the Bruins would also benefit from making an upgrade if available.
