3 Best Contracts On The Pittsburgh Penguins

The Pittsburgh Penguins were disappointing most of the season for the most part, but there has been a late season push for a playoff spot led by Sidney Crosby. The Penguins were able to load up their roster while dealing with some bad contracts due to some players taking deals. This will show in the three best contracts on the team this season.

Sidney Crosby

Crosby will definitely receive Hart Trophy votes, regardless of if he manages to will the Penguins into a playoff this season. He is the heart of the team and is playing amazing hockey at his age. He is still just making $8.7 million AAV for another season after this one and he has his first 40 goal season in seven years at age 36. He plays the most among forwards by a wide margin and is doing everything he can to get his team wins. He arguably should still be getting paid among the top players in the league.

Alex Nedeljkovic

The Penguins have had to fall back on the great play of Alex Nedeljkovic as of late and he hasn't failed them. He has served as the backup for the majority of the season, but is up to 34 games on the season with a 16-6-7 record and a .907 SV%. Nedeljkovic has actually had a better season than Tristan Jarry and is being used more since the team is fighting for their playoff life and want the best chance to win every night. That appears to be Nedeljkovic and he is under contract to the end of this season at $1.5 million AAV.

Evgeni Malkin

While Kris Letang also has a solid contract right now, Evgeni Malkin is having a strong enough season as the number two center at age 37. He is under contract for two more years at $6.1 million AAV and even though he wasn't at a point-per-game again, he has still scored 25 goals and recorded 63 points in 78 games. Those numbers have him as the second most productive player on the team by quite a bit while at a great AAV.
