Hurricanes Rumors: 2 Teams Linked to Brett Pesce

Brett Pesce is one of the top players who could hit the free agent market this offseason. The Carolina Hurricanes are hoping to get him signed to a new deal before July 1, but if they do not, he will be a very hot commodity on the free agent market.

NHL insider David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period recently reported that Pesce is expected to generate interest from the Nashville Predators and Toronto Maple Leafs if he hits the market this offseason.

The Predators have been connected to Pesce in the past, and they will now be in a prime position to target him if he hits the market. The Predators' right side could be very different next season, as Alexandre Carrier and Tyson Barrie are both free agents. Thus, their right side could use a boost, and Pesce would give them that.

As for the Maple Leafs, it is not a secret that the Original Six club could use some serious help on defense. This is especially the case when it comes to their right side, as it is one of the weakest parts of their roster. They need a shutdown and steady right-shot defenseman in their top four, and there is no question that Pesce would provide them with just that if signed.

We will now need to wait and see if either of these two teams can successfully sign him this offseason from here.
