Breaking: Hurricanes Sign Taylor Hall To Multi-Year Extension

Taylor Hall has now earned himself a new three-year extension from the Hurricanes

He was only "that other guy" the Carolina Hurricanes acquired in the huge Mikko Rantanen trade earlier this season. But with his strong play and leadership presence for them since arriving, Taylor Hall has now earned himself a new three-year extension from the Canes.

It's a 3-year, $9.5 million deal, with a $3.167M AAV.

The former Hart Trophy winner had a tough year and a half with the Chicago Blackhawks, with injury and underperformance, but since coming to Raleigh, he's been a key member of the Hurricanes middle-six, and after recording 18 points in 31 games in the regular season, he's continued to be a valued member of the team during the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, with three points in five games.

“Taylor has proven to be an outstanding fit for our team, and we are thrilled that he is excited to make Raleigh his home for another three seasons,” said Canes GM Eric Tulsky. “He’s been a solid veteran presence in the locker room and a difference maker on the ice.”

The 33-year-old is completing his 15th NHL season, and is a five-time All-Star. He was selected first overall by the Edmonton Oilers in the 2010 NHL Draft, and in 909 career games, he has 284 goals and 455 assists for 739 points. In addition to the Oilers, Hawks and Canes, he's also suited up with the New Jersey Devils (for whom he won the Hart as league MVP in 2018), the Arizona Coyotes, Buffalo Sabres and Boston Bruins.
