NHL Rumors: Pacific Division Team Linked To Trade For Wild's Marco Rossi

Minnesota Wild center Marco Rossi looks on during 2025 game.

With the Vancouver Canucks searching for a top-six center, Minnesota Wild forward Marco Rossi has emerged as a prime trade target—and the Canucks could reportedly be very interested.

The 23-year-old pending RFA just wrapped up a 60-point season and may not be in the Wild’s long-term plans, making him one of the most intriguing names available this summer.

Canucks Could Eye Marco Rossi as Trade Target to Fill Top-Six Center Hole

According to the Sekeres and Price podcast, along with TSN analyst Frankie Corrado, the Canucks should be one of the first teams calling Minnesota GM Bill Guerin. Despite Rossi’s strong production, he was buried on the fourth line during the playoffs and reportedly rejected a five-year extension offer during the season.

His demotion and the Wild's preference for bigger, more physical players have fueled speculation that the 5-foot-9 forward could be dealt. “There’s more there,” said analyst Frankie Corrado. “You bring him in, that’s a guy who can potentially do something for you.”

Rossi Fits the Canucks' Needs

Rossi would immediately slot into a top-six role in Vancouver, especially with J.T. Miller already traded and Brock Boeser likely to depart in free agency. His age, upside, and scoring touch (24 goals, 60 points this season) make him an ideal fit alongside the Canucks’ core of Quinn Hughes and Elias Pettersson.

AFP Analytics projects Rossi’s next deal at either $4.5 million for two years or $7.39 million annually over seven—both within Vancouver’s cap structure. He also led Wild forwards in five-on-five goal differential this season outside of Kirill Kaprizov and Joel Eriksson Ek.

The Canucks are reportedly willing to move their first-round pick and prospects to get a deal done. With limited time to build around their core, the window to land a rising talent like Rossi might not stay open long.
