Ducks Rumors: Perfect Head Coaching Fit Emerging For Anaheim
As the Anaheim Ducks search for their next head coach, University of Denver bench boss David Carle is drawing serious interest around the league—and Anaheim may be the best fit of all.
With the Ducks pushing to end a seven-year playoff drought and boasting one of the NHL’s most exciting young cores, Carle’s resume of NCAA championships and international gold medals has put him firmly in the spotlight. He’s coached Ducks players like Troy Terry and Cutter Gauthier in their formative years, earning praise not only for his hockey IQ but for his ability to connect with young talent.
David Carle Emerging as Ideal Coaching Fit for the Ducks
Carle, just 35, has guided Denver to national titles in 2022 and 2024 and helped Team USA win back-to-back golds at the World Junior Championships.
His players rave about his communication and development skills—key assets for a Ducks team loaded with emerging stars like Leo Carlsson, Mason McTavish, Olen Zellweger, and Lukáš Dostál. “He really relates to his players,” said Gauthier. “I had a great time learning from him.”
Terry added, “Just his hockey mind, the way he sees the game, and the way he delivers his message are great and why he's having so much success.”

Though Carle recently turned down an offer from the Chicago Blackhawks and appears content in Denver for now, the Ducks present a rare opportunity: a roster on the rise, cap space to improve, and a GM in Pat Verbeek who’s made it clear the goal is to make the playoffs in 2026.
If there’s one NHL job that might persuade Carle to make the leap, it’s Anaheim. With the right offer and vision, the Ducks may be able to land the coach many believe is destined for NHL success.
