NHL Trade Rumors: Flyers' Bobby Brink Named Trade Candidate

Philadelphia Flyers winger Bobby Brink took a major step forward this season, finishing with a career-best 41 points and carving out a reputation as a dependable two-way forward.

But despite his breakout, The Athletic’s Kevin Kurz reports that Brink could be used as trade bait if the Flyers aggressively pursue a top-line center this offseason.

Flyers Could Use Bobby Brink as Trade Chip in Hunt for Top Center

While general manager Danny Brière and team president Keith Jones are focused on building toward 2026, there’s growing urgency to make a playoff push next season. That means major moves could be on the table — and with the Flyers owning the sixth overall pick in the 2025 draft, they could pair it with an NHL-ready player like Brink to target a game-changing center.

Kurz named Seattle’s Matty Beniers, Dallas’ Wyatt Johnston, and San Jose’s Will Smith as dream targets, though he admitted those players are more than likely unavailable.

Brink’s Growth May Have Elevated His Value

Brink emerged from the bubble this season to become part of the Flyers' most consistent line alongside Noah Cates and Tyson Foerster. Known initially for his skill and vision, he leaned into the defensive side of his game and embraced a shutdown role. “I try to play within the structure, check the other team,” Brink said. “I got better in it just from focusing on it more.”

That all-around development has likely increased his appeal to other teams, especially those looking for young, cost-controlled wingers. But for the Flyers, his evolving skill set may also make him expendable — not due to lack of performance, but because he’s one of the few valuable assets who could help land a high-end center.
