Jonathan Toews Ready For NHL Return, Already Linked to Top Team in Free Agency
Three-time Stanley Cup champion Jonathan Toews hasn't played in the NHL in over two years. But we learned over the past few months that he is ready to make a comeback, now at the age of 37.
And the Presidents' Trophy-winning Winnipeg Jets are said to be the frontrunners for landing the Winnipeg-born four-time All-Star center.
Toews will have a long list of clubs with interest. The @NHLJets will be front and centre when the time is right. Could be a great fit. https://t.co/KIVzv8I9UL

His agent said he will start taking calls now in advance of the July 1st free agency period. But Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff already said earlier this season that he will push hard to sign the hometown kid.
Jonathan Toews to be pursued by hometown Winnipeg Jets
"I think it would be a great story for his career, too. Not that he needs another story to his career. But I think he’s proud of his roots and would be an interesting fit," said the Winnipeg GM.
Earlier this year, Toews was also linked to the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Colorado Avalanche. No word if those teams are still interested now that they're making their offseason plans.
Toews fought a bout of Long Covid in 2021 that eventually left him with "chronic inflammatory response disorder." But the former Chicago Blackhawks Conn Smythe Trophy winner has reported that he is "100% ready" to return, crediting a five-week "healing journey" in India that has left him feeling the best he has in years.
In 15 NHL seasons, which included three Stanley Cup championships with the Blackhawks, he recorded 372 goals and 883 points in 1,067 games with a plus/minus rating of +148.
