NHL Rumors: 3 Potential Offseason Suitors For Ryan Donato

Ryan Donato, Chicago Blackhawks

Ryan Donato had an excellent season at the perfect time, as he is a pending unrestricted free agent. After posting 31 goals and 62 points in 80 games with the Chicago Blackhawks this campaign, he is due for a nice raise. This is whether or not he stays with Chicago or signs elsewhere.

If Donato hits the market on July 1, these three teams could pursue him.

New Jersey Devils

The Devils are in serious need of more secondary scoring, and Donato could give them just that. He likely would grab the Devils' attention, as they are expected to make changes to their bottom six this summer. When looking at their group, he could be a perfect fit as their third-line center if signed.

Ottawa Senators

The Senators were connected to Donato nearing the deadline, and it would not be too surprising if they targeted him again. He would give their middle six a nice boost, especially when noting that he can play both down the middle and on the wing. Furthermore, he would also offer them another solid option for their power play.

Carolina Hurricanes

The Hurricanes could be a team to watch if Donato hits the free-agent market. He could be a very nice fit in their bottom six if signed and would also give them more depth scoring. The Hurricanes also have multiple pending UFA forwards like Jack Roslovic, Eric Robinson, and Tyson Jost, so they could be on the hunt for forward help this summer.
