NHL Trade Rumors: Blues Star Jordan Kyrou Becoming Trade Candidate

A St. Louis Blues writer wonders if the team will decide to move on from Jordan Kyrou before his full no-move clause kicks in on July 1st.

The St. Louis Blues made a tremendous second-half run to get themselves into the Stanley Cup Playoffs, but their Cinderella story fell short as they were ousted in heartbreaking fashion by the Winnipeg Jets in Game 7.

General manager Doug Armstrong will be looking to take the team to the next level for the 2025-26 season, and per insider Jeremy Rutherford in The Athletic, they have a big decision to make—urgently—on their top goal-scorer Jordan Kyrou.

He has a full no-move clause kicking in on July 1st, with six more years to run on his eight-year, $8.125M AAV contract. Do they decide to move on from the 26-year-old star winger?

He is coming off a terrific season in which he posted 36 goals and 70 points in 82 games, to go with a career-best plus/minus rating of +23. But his playoff performance left something to be desired, as he registered just three points in seven games with a minus-4 rating.

Is Jordan Kyrou a trade candidate for St. Louis?

Rutherford wonders if the Blues might consider trading Kyrou before they're locked in on July 1.

How do the Blues feel about him? Well, it’s hard not to like a player who’s led your team in scoring the last three seasons and made a concerted effort to improve his defense. But does he match the vision for the future, specifically GM-in-waiting Steen’s vision? That remains to be seen.

Leading up to the trade deadline, before the Blues started their wild charge back into playoff contention, Kyrou's name was mentioned once or twice as a trade candidate, though those rumors took a back seat to captain Brayden Schenn, who easily "could’ve finished the season with another team if he wanted," wrote Rutherford.

But as for Kyrou, his excellent regular season likely bumped up his trade value if the Blues wanted to go there, and certainly, "there’s been interest in him around the NHL in recent years."

Less than two months for the Blues to make what would be a huge decision.
