NHL Free Agency: Brock Boeser likely to sign with Minnesota Wild

The Vancouver Canucks are going to have a massive hole to fill at right wing, as pending unrestricted free-agent forward Brock Boeser appears set to sign a long-term contract with the Minnesota Wild.

Boeser, 28, is from the area and has long been tied to joining the Wild. Last season with the Canucks, the 6-foot-1 winger scored 25 goals and 50 points in 75 games. He scored 40 in 81 games two seasons ago, and the Wild are hopeful he gets back to filling the net in a hurry, as he'll be a great complement to Kirill Kaprizov on the right side of the ice.

The Wild have $15.7 million in cap space to work with this summer, as they're finally past having a boat load of dead cap space on their books, thanks to buying out Zach Parise and Ryan Suter many moons ago.

As for the Canucks, they are reportedly trying to re-sign Pius Suter, but are also going to be looking to see what to do with Quinn Hughes, who has made it clear he'd eventually like to team up with his brothers in New Jersey.

Vancouver has $12.1 million in cap space to work with this summer, and could be one of the busier teams on the trade market leading into the NHL Draft next week, and free agency starting July 1st.
