NHL Trade Rumor: Ducks' John Gibson to be dealt to Blue Jackets?
The Columbus Blue Jackets have been busy this offseason, already making one goalie trade, and it appears there could be another one on the way.
This time involving Anaheim Ducks goaltender John Gibson, who appears to be getting dealt out of southern California. Gibson has been rumored to be moved in the past, and this time it certainly feels like a deal is creeping closer.
The veteran netminder has two seasons left on his deal at $6.4 million AAV, and holds a 10-team no-trade clause. The 31-year-old went 11-11-2 last season, posting a 2.73 goals against average, and .912 save percentage. The Philadelphia Flyers could also be in the mix for the Pittsburgh native.
Gibson was a topic of discussion on Daily Faceoff Live with hockey insider Frank Seravalli, as he shed some light on what the future may hold for the Ducks' goaltender:
I would think that the Columbus Blue Jackets are one of the teams that’s been talking to the Anaheim Ducks about John Gibson.....Columbus is pretty close to Pittsburgh, where John Gibson’s from.
The Ducks have Lukas Dostal as their goaltender for the now and the future, and GM Pat Verbeek has already been aggressive this offseason trying to upgrade his roster, and could use Gibson to fill a gap up front within his lineup.
