Skinner was one of the top unrestricted free agents (UFAs) left for the taking. Now, he has found his new home with the Sharks, and he should be a solid veteran forward for them as they look to take that next step in their rebuild.
Skinner spent this past season with the Edmonton Oilers, where he posted 16 goals, 13 assists, 29 points, and a plus-1 rating in 72 regular-season games. He also played in five playoff games for the Oilers this spring, where he recorded one goal, one assist, and a minus-1 rating.
When looking at the Sharks' roster, Skinner should have a home in their middle six. Furthermore, due to his offensive skill, it would be understandable if the Sharks give him some time on their power play.
In 1,078 career NHL games over 15 seasons split between the Carolina Hurricanes, Buffalo Sabres, and Oilers, Skinner has posted 373 goals, 326 assists, and 699 points. It will be intriguing to see how much he improves upon these career stats as a member of the Sharks next season from here.
