Canucks Sign Vitali Kravtsov After Finishing 6th In KHL Scoring

The Vancouver Canucks are taking another chance on former top prospect Vitali Kravtsov, signing the 25-year-old winger to a one-year, two-way contract for the 2025-26 season.

The deal carries a $750,000 NHL salary and a $450,000 AHL salary, with Kravtsov eligible to become a Group VI free agent next summer if he plays fewer than 16 NHL games.

Originally drafted ninth overall by the New York Rangers in 2018, Kravtsov was traded to Vancouver in 2023 but struggled to produce, tallying just two points in 16 games. He returned to Russia after that season and spent two years with Traktor Chelyabinsk, where he re-established himself as an offensive force.

Last season, Kravtsov notched 27 goals and 58 points in 66 KHL games, ranking sixth in league scoring and helping Traktor reach the Gagarin Cup Final.

Kravtsov Gets Another Shot at NHL Role

Canucks GM Patrik Allvin praised Kravtsov’s growth in the KHL and says the team is eager to evaluate him at training camp. With Vancouver’s forward group largely set, Kravtsov will likely compete for a fringe roster spot or start in the AHL with Abbotsford, where he could serve as a call-up option.
