Colorado Avalanche sign Victor Olofsson to one-year contract

The NHL's free-agent forward market is now even thinner as reports are indicating that the Colorado Avalanche have signed Victor Olofsson to a one-year contract.

The former 2014 seventh-round pick of the Buffalo Sabres spent last season with the Vegas Golden Knights, scoring 15 goals and 29 points in 56 points. Olofsson spent the prior six seasons in the Sabres organization before his one year on the desert strip.

Olofsson also appeared in nine Stanley Cup Playoff games for the Golden Knights, collecting four points, before getting ousted in the second round by the Edmonton Oilers. It was a somewhat down year through and through for Olofsson, who when he was with the Sabres, was closer to a 40-point pace throughout his six years with the organization.

With questions about his physicality, and play without the puck, Olofsson went unsigned for almost two months of the offseason, with the Avs finally taking a chance he can reclaim his scoring touch and provide some secondary offence among their middle six.

In 307 career NHL games, Olofsson has scored 105 goals and 106 assists for 211 points.
