Unfortunate Matthew Tkachuk Injury Update Revealed
The last we heard from Matthew Tkachuk, a couple of weeks back, he said that he was still considering whether to have surgery on his dual injuries, which would determine his return timeline. Unfortunately, it's now been revealed that the Florida Panthers star forward has indeed gone under the knife, and will be out until January.

Tkachuk had the surgery recently. He had played the entire Stanley Cup Playoffs with a torn adductor muscle (torn "right off the bone"), and a sports hernia injury during the 4 Nations tournament in mid-February.
The last time the Panthers were without Tkachuk in the lineup, the final two months of the 2024-25 regular season, they went 13-11-1.
He returned for the playoffs, however, still fighting the injuries, and recorded 23 points in 23 games to help Florida to its back-to-back Cup championship.
Whether he'll be at full strength for Team USA in time for the Olympics, which kicks off on February 6th, remains to be seen.
In his three years in South Florida, Tkachuk has 88 goals and 254 points in 211 regular season games with 303 hits and a plus/minus rating of +45. In addition, he has 25 goals and 69 points in 67 playoff games, with 176 hits and a +19.
As we saw last year, the Panthers can get by playing without Tkachuk for a big chunk of the season, but when the games count for real and the Stanley Cup is in sight, they need their tenacious, physical forward to play a huge role.
