Breaking: Mason McTavish & Anaheim Ducks Come To Terms On New Deal
One of the biggest stalemates of the NHL offseason is over. The Anaheim Ducks and restricted free agent Mason McTavish have finally come to terms on a new contract. It's a six-year, $42 million deal for the second-line center, at a $7 million AAV.

The two sides had dug in their heels all summer long, and as noted this week by Elliotte Friedman, each of them were led by "tough negotiators", making this a long, difficult process.
Just one week ago, a "sizeable gap" still existed in the negotiations, with the Ducks reportedly holding firm in the $5.5M AAV range, while McTavish was looking for something between $7M-$8M. It sounds like the player's camp gets the W.
In his third full NHL season last year, McTavish posted career highs with 22 goals, 30 assists and 52 points in 76 games. His 16:53 average time on ice was also a personal best.
McTavish will now have just under two weeks to get into camp, acclimatize to a new system under new head coach Joel Quenneville, and get ready for Opening Night on Oct. 9th when the Ducks visit the Seattle Kraken.
