Bruins Rumors: Zacha Is Gettable For The Right Offer

Pavel Zacha, Boston Bruins
The Boston Bruins are looking like they will be a team that competitive teams watch early in the season as they could falter and be more open to making some trades. The Bruins were just not good last season due to injuries and poor seasons. Their lineup is arguably weaker, but healthier at the same time this season. A good amount has to go right for the Bruins to start string and remain strong or teams will be gunning for their players.

Frank Seravalli said that "I think if someone stepped up and made the right offer, that (Zacha) is gettable." Zacha has been a name most in the rumor mill regarding Boston as he is a solid top-6 player who can play center or the wing while having offensive and defensive capabilities.

Zacha will play power play, penalty kill, at key times in the game, win plenty of draws, and averaged over 19 minutes per game last season. It remains to be seen whether he will play the majority of this season at center or the wing. Casey Mittelstadt will be playing whichever one Zacha isn't.

The 28-year-old Zacha scored 14 goals and 47 points last season, but it wasn't a bad season for him even though his offensive numbers were down from the first two years in Boston where he put up 21 goals in each to go along with 57 and 59 points. The team was just so much worse and his linemates weren't the same. Zacha isn't a line driver, but is a great complementary top-6 piece, so it'll once again be interesting to see what happens this season on his line with expected linemates Mittelstadt and Viktor Arvidsson, also expecting to bounce back.

Zacha may or may not be a piece of the future in Boston. We don't yet know if he wants to sign an extension when he's eligible next summer. But it makes more sense to move him than keep him for the remaining year to half a year and bring in a piece or two that will be around longer and potentially help. Zacha will be a player at the top of trade boards this season and I wouldn't be shocked if a team or two push hard for him early on if the Bruins are struggling.
