Minnesota Wild Get More Bad News On Forward Mats Zuccarello

It's been a rollercoaster day for the Minnesota Wild. After signing superstar Kirill Kaprizov to a record-setting contract, they've now learned that Kaprizov's power play mate Mats Zuccarello will be lost for a lot longer than they thought—a "minimum" of seven to eight weeks.

Zuccarello suffered a lower-body injury that has kept him out of action thus far in training camp and the preseason schedule, but the original concerns that he might miss just 'the beginning of the season' have now expanded. The seven-to-eight-week timeline would keep the 15-year veteran out until perhaps the end of November, costing him at least 20-25 games or more.

The 38-year-old saw an average of 19:39 of ice time per game last season, while notching 19 goals and 54 points in 69 games. He'll be entering his 7th season in Minnesota, having compiled 335 points in 393 games with the Wild.

The pending unrestricted free agent has totaled 217 goals and 473 assists for 690 points in 904 career games. Before signing a free agent deal with the Wild, he played a couple of games with the Dallas Stars and the first nine years of his career with the New York Rangers.
